What is Wellness?

How often in a month do we think wellness? What is wellness?

Wellness is taking a time-out for yourself. When was the last time you booked a massage treatment, a reflexology treatment or had a new nutrition plan formulated just for you? How often do you intend to use your benefits and forget to year after year? Hello, that’s FREE wellness! Why not top yourself up? Regular interval treatments of any type of wellness modality that promotes relaxation, along with a nutrition plan built on super-foods and regular exercise can increase longevity and promote wellness throughout the body.

Sometimes I think our cars get better treatment. We change the oil every 5000 km’s, get tune-ups, washes and detailing, but we don’t think of our bodies as our own Ferrari’s, Porsche’s and Audi’s. Why don’t we do the same for ourselves once a month, once a week or have a wellness formula put together for us? The main reason for this, I think, is that we are too caught up with giving to our demanding jobs, spouses, family members, friends and life in general.

In essence, if we created a wellness formula that worked for us, we would be giving 100,000 percent to our well-being that is discounted due to stress and poor lifestyle choices, daily.

Wellness is anything you do for yourself and anything that you do by giving back to yourself. We should practice receiving three times a day and giving three times a day. Just by giving back to yourself a little every day can increase longevity. Who wouldn’t want that? You know that with time, stress and aging, there are changes including aches and pain on many levels so why not be proactive like Tony Horton of P90X, who looks awesome at 50. You get the idea.

Below is my clinic’s Wellness Model. I use this to gain more insight into my client’s reasoning for coming to see me for reflexology or weight loss. When a client comes to us, I not only look at the reason why they came in but also the contributing factors of why certain ailments have occurred.

By changing any area in your life for the better will increase what I like to call your “happy vibration.” Kinda like the “happy dance.” We all secretly have it and would use it if we were to win the lottery, for example. When we feel happy, it’s like winning the lottery because all good is then magnetized to us. We think better, feel better, and just want more better things to continue to happen–hence my clinic’s mission statement: What is the Reflexology and Wellness Clinic’s quest? Simply to make the population feel better and be better–A whole person approach! Mind, body and spirit! At the Reflexology and Wellness Clinic we give more gratitude and love to ourselves and all the little things in life that we forgot to see, and in return automatically improve our health because the cells in our bodies are very receptive to what we feel.

A few weeks ago I was in Chapters and came across a display. I posted it on my Facebook account and page where I have a collection of clients, friends and family that I wish to inspire with every message. So today, I wish to inspire you as well. Today’s message ….

    It really mind-boggles me how little time we take for ourselves. Yes, we all have busy lives, an endless to do-list hanging over our conscience, but it rarely contains activities that give us time to breathe guilt free. Heck, forget DOING things for ourselves, I rarely stop to clear my mind and breathe deeply. In our free leisure time our mind is occupied by junk we need to relax WHILE remaining in that GO GO GO mode – like facebook, emails, phonecalls, watching series, drinking coffees with friends, etc. To think of making a commitment, even just once a month, to take time out for myself almost scares me and I feel panicked about fitting it into my schedule… Anybody else out there feeling the same way? Booking in a massage/nail/spa appointment ahead of time is the only way I can ENSURE I will take a time out! I hope this blog popping up in my news feed will slowly gnaw away at the guilt I feel when I take time for myself…! I’ve started taking time out for myself for various gym classes and it feels sooooo goooooooood. Thx Antoinette!
